Historical Keyword Rankings

Today we’re excited to announce one of our most requested features: in-depth keyword history. Our original keyword history report showed a campaign’s keyword growth month-over-month, for the past 12 months. The report worked great if you wanted to get a high-level view of keyword performance over the past year, but what if you only want to show the last quarter, broken up by weekly intervals? Now you can.

We received numerous requests from our users that it would be great to track the historical growth by not only months, but by weeks and days. The functionality of the existing report is the same, we’ve just added incredible depth to the report.

Here’s an example of some of the new depth filters.

Monthly Filters

Monthly Keyword Rankings

When you first navigate to the keyword history report, the default view will show the past 12 months, displayed by monthly intervals. The ranking for each month is based on the first day of the month, so the numbers for β€œJan 2014” would have been pulled from January 1, 2014.

You can quickly change views between the past 12 months, past 3 months, or you can choose custom date range. Currently you can only select up to a 12 month range.

Weekly Filters

Weekly Keyword Rankings

When you filter by week, the default view will show the past 8 weeks, displayed in weekly interval ranges. The ranking you see for each range is the first pulled ranking from that week. For example the ranking for β€œ02/10/2014 – 02/16/2014” would be pulled from February 10, 2014.

We thought about displaying a weekly average for each date range, but that is somewhat unreliable for tracking actual movement, so we chose to keep it consistent with the first day of the date range.

You can quickly change views between the past 8 weeks, past 4 weeks, or you can choose custom date range. Currently you can only select up to a 12 week range.

Daily Filters

Daily Keyword Rankings

When filtering by day, the default view will show rankings from the past 14 days, displaying the actual ranking for that given day.
You can quickly change views between the past 14 days, past 7 days, or you can choose custom date range. Currently you can only select up to a 14 day span.

The best news is, you can try this feature out for free. The historical keyword ranking report is available on all of our plans. Happy reporting!
